Doulton Repair and Restoration

In 1815, the Doulton family began creating stoneware in London, England. By the 1870s, Doulton had hired well-known artists of the time like George Tinsworth, Frank Butler and Hannah Barlow to design their wares. To be closer to other well-known potters of the day, Doulton relocated to Burslem, Staffordshire in 1882.

In the late nineteenth century and under the direction of John Slater, Doulton began creating one-of-a-kind charter jugs, decorative pieces, figurines and vases, which drew the attention of the Royal Family. In 1901, King Edward VII sold Doulton the Royal Warrant and by 1902, all Doulton pieces were marked with a stamp with “Royal Doulton” and Burslem, England. Since then, Royal Doulton has added high-end bone china to its diverse catalog.
