Lladró Repair and Restoration

Best known for its porcelain figurines, the Spanish Lladró Company was founded in 1953 by the three Lladró brothers. They began by creating vases and jugs, but quickly added sculptures and figurines. They experienced nearly immediate success and had to relocate several times before moving to Tavernes Blanques. Their success continued and eventually this area was renamed to the City of Porcelain or Ciudad de la Porcelana. The children of the original Lladró brothers still own and operate the company.

Lladró figurines are known for their distinct, elongated style. The main ingredients used to create and glaze Lladró masterpieces remain a heavily guarded secret. Typically, they use an undisclosed blend of hard-paste porcelain, but it is known that in 1970, Lladró started using gres, a new material, to produce figurines. Gres is identifiable by its earthy colors.

Lladró collectibles created after 1974 usually feature the Lladró mark. The first mark was a blue emblem with a bellflower and an ancient chemical symbol. In addition to figurines, Lladró produces vases and stoneware.
